Brides. Listen up. There are 10 things that you need to have on hand on your wedding day to save you from any trouble or despair. I know this first hand because I COMPLETELY forgot about a wedding emergency kit… eeek! So grab a small bag, put these items in, and leave it with one of your girls. Just make sure it’s always in arms reach as the day unfolds – like in the car, at the bridal table or in the bridal room…
1… MAKEUP BAG
An obvious one, but nonetheless important. Have your eyeshadow, concealer, bronzer, masscarra, lipstick etc. on hand that your makeup-artist used – touchups are inevitable throughout the day, and we always want to look our best.
2… HAIR ESSENTIALS – STRAIGHTENER/CURLER + HAIR SPRAY + BOBBY PINS
If you struggle with straight hair that doesn’t stay curled, or if there is a touch of humidity that makes your hair go wild, then all of the above will be your lifesavers. Even if you have an up-do, it’s amazing how easy your hair can come undone. Think about how many hugs you’ll be getting throughout the day where people touch your hair… or the wind… or the dancing and twirling… all of these contribute to hair woes.
Perhaps even ask your hairstylist how he/she recommends to keep you looking perfect all day.
3… SAFETY PINS, NEEDLE + THREAD
You never know when a fabric emergency will arise. Like the groom splitting his pants when dancing (yes I’ve seen this happen… lol) or your train failing to stay tucked up, or your dress (particularly if it’s strapless) stretching as the day progresses… Safety pins and a needle and thread can save you in all of these scenarios.
4… DOUBLE SIDED BODY-TAPE
You don’t want additional ‘exposure’ on your wedding day…
5… TISSUES
To dab away any happy tears, or just to clean your face and hands in general 🙂
6… INSECT REPELLENT
If you’re having an outdoor wedding (especially in the Australia summer/autumn) the insects are likely to be out in full force!! There’s nothing worse than having a photo with a fly on your face (this happened to me at my engagement… it landed on my nose…) or constantly swatting them away. Opt for an odourless repellent.
7… BANDAIDS OR GEL BLISTER BLOCKS
A must, as you’ll be on your feet all day, and the chances are you wouldn’t have broken-in your wedding shoes properly.
8… WHITE CHALK
To cover any stains or marks on your white gown.
9… SPARE COPY OF YOUR VOWS
Always have a second copy on hand, so you don’t have to fret if the original goes missing. Some people can wing it and are great at improvising, but it’s better to be safe.
10… FLATS
Your saviours. A whole day in heels can take its toll on any woman!
Now get your bag ready, or turn your printer on; these are 10 things you don’t want to forget.
